N.C. Home Sales Rose in May

Existing home sales in North Carolina for the month of May improved markedly over year-ago levels with a 17 percent increase in units sold and a 20 percent increase over April figures.
According to statistics compiled by the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®, total units sold for the month were 8,909 and total dollar sales were $1,856,255,902. The average existing home sales price rose 3 percent to $208,357.
Of the 21 reporting Multiple Listing Services (MLSs) in the state, 15 saw an increase in units sold from May 2011 to May 2012. Neuse River, at 52 percent (an increase in sales from 113 to 172), realized the most significant gains.
