NC REALTORS® 2022 Innovation Grant Recipients

Five local REALTORS® associations were recently awarded 2022 Innovation Grants by NC REALTORS®. The grant program funds innovative community programs across the state, which closely align with the REALTOR® mission and values. NC REALTORS® sought out programs, events, or plans that change the way the real estate industry is perceived or how business is conducted with an emphasis on promoting affordable housing.

Land Of The Sky Association of REALTORS® –  $5,000

LOTSAR is collaborating with Thrive Asheville, a local nonprofit, on its Landlord-Tenant Partnership (“LTP”) initiative. The LTP brings together landlords, tenants, nonprofits, and housing specialists in order to facilitate a partnership between landlords and tenants who have housing choice vouchers (“HCVs”). Further, the LTP helps landlords understand and navigate the process of accepting vouchers, and collaborates with partner organizations to surface and support tenants’ needs when it comes to finding housing. Because this process is likely new to both landlords and tenants, the LTP engages them with culturally competent training and resources, which builds an ecosystem of partnership and one that is more likely to succeed. In addition to providing education and indemnification grants for landlords, the LTP also provides education and coaching for tenants who are moving from public housing into the HCV program (more info on that specific piece below). LOTSAR is collaborating with the LTP to provide support, both financial and otherwise, so the program can continue to succeed.

Greensboro Regional REALTORS® Association, High Point Regional Association of REALTORS®, Longleaf Pine REALTORS® – $3,000 each

GRRA along with HPRAR, and Longleaf Pine REALTORS® Associations are collaborating on a very informative event, Carolina Core Real Estate Summit, for REALTORS® local economic developers, government officials, builders, investors and business people about the opportunities in the NC Carolina Core.

Hendersonville Board of REALTORS® – $1,000

The Storehouse Food Pantry is a very important part of The Hendersonville community. They have been renting a space for years and hoping to get the funds to purchase land and build a facility so they will not have to move locations again. The need for helping others in the community is larger than ever before.  Hendersonville Board of REALTORS® will help The Storehouse deliver food and hygiene pantry items to those in need.
