Leigh BrownWhy I love what I do: I’m an entrepreneur. There’s simply no other profession that allows people to stretch and grow while helping others, as real estate does.  Every time I start to get bored, I can find another angle to learn about and grow my own skills while helping others. I always wondered when I would find somewhere to ‘fit in’ and then I became a Realtor®.

Favorite work story: There are too many. The buyers who named their daughter after me? The divorce where the wife hightailed it out of state and the husband skipped his parole hearing? The house with the upholstered red velvet ceiling?  The woman coming out of an abusive marriage who owned her own place for the first time, and then gained the confidence to ask for a raise at work and got it? The Realtors® who felt alone until hearing my story and then knowing that their uniqueness is their strength and not their liability?  It’s again, what makes this profession so unique.

What I’m most proud of in my career: I don’t know yet. But I’ll find it.

Why I’m a member of NC REALTORS®: Not only the largest grassroots organization that is working for PUBLIC interest, but amazingly cohesive-despite our differences. At first, I belonged because I had to. Now, I belong because I am a part of something bigger than myself. Once your ego understands that the power is in the numbers and the differences, you can really grow.

Fun Fact: Are there really any secrets left about me???  I got my real estate license at night, while I was singing and waiting tables at an Italian restaurant in Huntersville. We had to sing ‘Funiculi, Funicula’ every hour on the hour.
