What do you consider your greatest accomplishment in the industry?

Having 2 scholarships/yr granted in my name because of my participation in the education part of the industry. One is the CCIM 104 course (awarded by CCIM) and the other is from CRRA in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as an NC REALTOR®?

Giving the commercial brokers a voice and writing commercial courses.

What were the greatest challenges you faced in the industry?

Early on, it was being female in a male-dominated career (commercial real estate). Later on, it was dealing with the many aspects of real estate and trying to see that all were recognized.

What were the greatest challenges you faced as an NC REALTOR®?

We changed the governance structure during my year as president, and there was much disagreement among some of the associations.

Have you been inspired by other NC REALTOR® women throughout the years? Please name them here and briefly describe how they have impacted you, the industry or the association.

Wanda Proffitt – she is one of most well-rounded and sincere REALTORS® I know. She’s accomplished so much.

Cynthia Shelton, CCIM, CRE – She encouraged me to be active at NAR and has been a mentor and friend.

Marlene Peeler, CCIM – Marlene is the one who got me involved in NC REALTORS®. It’s all her fault!
