Recent Board of Directors Actions at 2023 NC REALTORS® Legislative Meetings
Special Report
The NC REALTORS® Board of Directors met March 28 during NC REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Raleigh and approved the following items:
2024-2026 Strategic Plan
During the meeting, the Board voted to approve the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, developed by the Strategic Planning Committee. The committee reviewed NC REALTORS® membership data, programs and services, financial services and digital metrics. They also considered current real estate trends and market developments.
Please note: This plan will begin in 2024. In the meantime, we are still working to complete the 2021-2023 plan.
Appraisal Section Bylaws Amendment
The Board also approved amendments to ARTICLE IV, Officers in the NC REALTORS® Appraisal Section Bylaws, allowing the Committee Chair, or Vice-Chair acting as the Committee Chair, to be entitled to mileage reimbursement from the NC REALTORS® Appraisal Section for presiding over committee meetings and/or reporting to the NC REALTORS® Board of Directors.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Laurie Knudsen reported that NC REALTORS® balance sheet remains healthy. Thanks to continued increases in membership, total revenue is higher than year-to-date budgeted revenue. Most department expenses are lower than expected due to careful spending and appropriate oversight. We continue to be on track year-to-date.
Legislative Meetings
The Board meeting was conducted during the NC REALTORS® Legislative Meetings, March 27-29, in Raleigh. Over 700 attendees (including a record 324 first-time attendees) collaborated during business committee meetings at the beginning of the week. On Wednesday, March 29, NC REALTORS® rallied together for our Legislative Day at the General Assembly and discussed the following legislative priorities with elected officials:
- North Carolina’s Housing Crisis
- Short-Term Rental Regulations
- Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA)
In next week’s REALTOR® Advocate newsletter, we will send a detailed report of the progress made during these visits. In the meantime, please review the current Legislative Priorities here.
