Federal Political Coordinator Profile: Christina Asbury

Christina Asbury is a new Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) this year but she certainly isn’t new to advocacy work.  In fact, she is the 2023 Vice Chair of the Legislative Committee and serves as a State Political Coordinator (SPC). Anyone who knows Christina knows that she has a passion for all things coastal and that was her motivating factor to becoming an FPC.  She wanted to ensure that the rural and coastal areas of NC have a strong advocacy presence and a great relationship with Congressman Greg Murphy.

Being a new FPC, Christina does not yet have a list of things she enjoys but the training and gaining insight into NAR advocacy work has been a great experience.

Christina encourages participation in the program, whether it’s expressing interest in becoming an FPC or a Contact Team Member.  She recommends reaching out to Kristin Nash, Director of Political Fundraising, to inquire about the program and ask her to connect you with the FPC in your area.

A key part of engagement is having knowledge of real estate policy issues and issues that affect constituents in the Congressional member’s district.  It is important to attend Legislative Committee meetings or consider expressing interest in joining the Legislative Committee to get a better understanding of state level issues. You should also keep abreast of NAR policy issues.

She did not have a relationship with her Member of Congress prior to becoming his FPC but is so appreciative of the great relationship Congressman Murphy had with Connie Corey when she was his FPC.  Christina is building on that relationship and looks forward to representing the real estate industry to the best of her abilities.

Recognizing the importance of connecting with her Member of Congress in-district, Christina has a goal of establishing a quarterly Telephone Town Hall so REALTOR ®members in his district and other constituents have the opportunity to catch-up on DC happenings and district news.
