Accurately measuring and reporting residential square footage is essential for protecting clients and reducing the risk of misrepresentation. This course was developed in response to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s adoption of the revised Residential Square Footage Guidelines, 2026 Edition, also known as “The Yellow Book.”
Because square footage included in marketing materials may be considered a material fact, NCREC emphasizes the importance of accuracy. This course provides real estate agents with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to properly measure, calculate, and report the square footage of residential properties in accordance with the revised guidelines.
Through a practical, hands-on approach, participants will strengthen their ability to interpret and apply the guidelines accurately while using them as an effective risk management tool to reduce potential exposure to misrepresentation.
